Long Island Man Falls Into Abandoned Cesspool

An elderly man took a precipitous fall down a 10-foot cesspool over the weekend on Long Island, suffering minor injuries, police said.

First responders were dispatched to Church Street in Patchogue shortly after 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

The 82-year-old man was reportedly walking on the property when he fell down he abandoned 10-foot cesspool, prompting a response from local paramedics and county police.

After being helped out of the cesspool, the man was transported by an ambulance to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for treatment and further evaluation.
